Xbox Game Pass Essential is Microsoft's entry-level Game Pass plan. It replaced Xbox Game Pass Core and is the plan that gives Xbox console players online multiplayer.

It is available as 1, 3 or 6 month codes, so you can choose how long you want to play.

What the Plan Includes

New day-one releases from Xbox studios are not part of Essential. They are included in the higher Game Pass plans.

How to Redeem Xbox Game Pass Essential

On the web

1. Copy the code from your Card4Play order.
2. Go to redeem.microsoft.com in your browser.
3. Sign in with the Microsoft account you use on Xbox. Its country/region must be set to United States.
4. Enter the 25-character code and follow the on-screen steps.
5. The subscription time is added to your account.

On an Xbox console

1. Sign in to your Xbox with the Microsoft account set to the United States.
2. Press the Xbox button to open the guide and go to Store.
3. Select Redeem, enter the 25-character code and confirm.
